A significant amount of physical and psychological development takes place during the ado lescent years for young girls. In many cases, adolescents who experience menstrual problems do not seek medical attention from their family physician or gynaecologist. It is possible that a delayed presentation or consultation with a doctor could be the result of embarrassment with regard to discussing menstruation, fear of disease, and ignorance regarding the services that are accessible. Over 21.4% of the population in India is considered to be in the adoles cent age range, which is defined by the World Health Organisation as the age range of 10–19 years.
